I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. The Story of Alexa and Drake was one I could not put down! Although there were several instances where I would be yelling at her.. but I will get to that later.Alexa is just your average college junior, attending classes and piloting Mile High Club charter flights. Boys haven't been on her radar for a couple years after a disastrous breakup with her high school sweetheart. Her plans to focus on school hit a bit of a snag when she meets bad-boy Drake Bennett and he sets his sights on making her his own. Drake transferred to Blythe College for the rugby team, not for a new assortment of college girls. He's sexy and cocky, and he attracts women like moths to a flame. When he meets Alexa, Drake knows he's met his match. She tries to resist him, but Drake isn't used to taking no for an answer. Warning: 18+ due to sexual content
Alexa was always most confertable in the cockpit of a plane, flying was her favorite bonding moment with her father and she couldn't imagine herself doing anything else. Having started the "Mile High" charter flights, her father business took off, allowing her to easily pay her way through college. Joining her best friend at Blythe College was just the icing on the cake for her.
When Drake Bennett transferred colleges, he was the guy that all of the girls wanted. Only, he had eyes for only one girl. Alexa. Having gotten off on the wrong foot several times with her, he had to basically beg her to give him a chance. No, this is where I started to dislike Alexa. He didn't beg, he demanded, and she just went along with it.
Several instances in the book, Alexa lost her back bone. Stand up to him girl!! Only when Drake finds out about her "Mile High" flights, and completely misinterprets it, basically calling her a whore, does she Finally stand up for herself. Or so I thought...
While this was a great romance, and the story line was fabulous. I wish Alexa was more aggressive. I find the damsel in distress, weak heroine to be whiny after a while. Only when she yells and leaves him does she start to act like the tough young woman we all know she is.
I did really enjoy the way Rochelle Paige told her story. This is a trilogy series, the next is through Alexa's close friend, basically brother, eyes. He has been seceretly in love with Alexa for year, and it tears him apart that she does not see him like anything but a brother. I am very interested in seeing how the story plays out!
