(I received this book from the author for an honest review.)
Let me start with a disclaimer, this is not the story of Naomi and Turner. Sorry. When I first saw this was the next book in the Hard Rock Roots series I just assumed it was the continuation of their affair, but it is not. You will get to hear from them through out this novel, but Tough Luck is the story of Ronnie and Lola.
You may recall that Ronnie is among the shadows behind the personality that is Turner. Ronnie tends to stay to himself behind it kit taking his frustrations out on his drums. Living the hard life of sex, drugs and rock n' roll has taken his toll and worn him out, but he hasn't seen anything yet. Lola is a sassy Aussie who is a member of one of the opening bands on the tour. She has two jobs, rock hard every night and get close to Ronnie. The closer she gets to Ronnie the sooner all her dreams will come true. Or so she is told.
When a series of event begins to unravel the world around him, Ronnie finds a small sense of peace with Lola. If only he knew the truth. No one is safe. Everyone is a target.
I LOVE C.M Stunich novels! She is one of my favorite authors. I love the raw gritty edge she gives her characters. There is nothing rosy or sunny about this novel. It is dirty and sticky. Sweaty and reeking with suspense. If you haven't read any of her previous novels I suggest you fix that fast!
Oh, and one final warning. There is something else C.M. Stunich is good at. Cliffhangers! And she does not disappoint at the end of Tough Luck.
