I was hooked immediately to this series. There are several scenes that has me on the edge of my chair, covering my mouth in shock. The emotion from all of the characters were jumping off the pages!
Bridie is
from the “other side of the tracks”. Being adopted at a young age, along with
her four siblings, she has not had an easy life. Growing up in the ‘hood’,
struggling for food on some days growing up, has made her a strong and
determined woman. Working multiple jobs, she is putting herself through college
to council other kids in her home town.
While
working as a waitress at a local bar, she is antagonized and harassed by a
group of Navy SEALS. By defending herself, it in turn causes her to lose her
job. With some pleading and apologizing, one of the SEALS, Cody, gets her job
back…
Cody can’t
seem to keep Bridie out of his mind. He is not one to be tied down… he wants to
be free to do whatever he wants without the constant nagging of a girlfriend.
Until Bridie turns him down, he can’t believe that she would not want him and
is determined to chase her down and change her mind.
Cody, Cody,
Cody… several times throughout this book I wanted to smack him… and then smack
Bridie for putting up with it! As we get further into the book, Bridie finally
grows a back bone and stands up to his arrogant ass!
The only
one in Cody’s family who doesn’t treat her like “trailer trash” is his brother,
Scott. She actually met Scott before dating Cody, but he never called like he
said he would… she had no idea they were brothers!! This in turn bring a series of twists to the story!
Book one
leaves us with a cliff hanger and I was SOOO glad to have book two ready and
waiting, I would have gone insane having to wait for the release!!
