Review: I absolutely love Maddie and Ryder. I enjoyed there story so much I am having trouble formulating it into words. There is so much to say, but saying it all will give away too much. I don't want to spoil it for anyone.
If you have not read Promise Me Darkness stop reading this review NOW! Some of the things I am about to say will completely ruin the first part of the journey for you. You have been warned.
Alright, so at the end of Promise Me Darkness Ryder and Maddie's relationship has been come to a climax. Ryder has admitted his feelings and Maddie begins to realize that in a few short months they will have proof of their love. However, they do not have time to bask in their new proclaimed love. Ryder and the others ride off to town to rescue Maddie's friend.
In this new savage world nothing is easy. Every day is a struggle. Adding grief to the equation makes it all seem cruel. However, this is Maddie's new reality when Ryder doesn't return with the others. Will she be able to go on? Will she be able to survive without him? Why does she have this feeling deep within that Ryder is still alive? Promise Me Light brings out a different side of Maddie. She is more rough around the edges. More determined. Her new reality has hardened her.
I really don't know how much more I can say without going into detail. I will say this sequel is beautifully written. I feel in love with each character a little more. I enjoyed the blend of romance and science-fiction. The depiction of the will to survive was inspiring. This book and series holds a spot among my favorites.
