Synopsis: “All my life, I battled with the knowledge I was twisted… fucked up to want something so deliciously dark—wrong on so many levels. But then slave fifty-eight entered my world. Hissing, fighting, with a core of iron, she showed me an existence where two wrongs make a right."
Tess is Q’s completely. Q is Tess’s irrevocably. But now, they must learn the boundaries of their unconventional relationship, while Tess seeks vengeance on the men who sold her. Q made a blood-oath to deliver their corpses at Tess’s feet, and that’s just what he’ll do.
He may be a monster, but he’s Tess’s monster.
Jess's Review
Where do I even begin with this one... W..O..W!!!
This is book 2 in the Monster in the Dark series, if you have not read Tears of Tess, be sure to pick it up before reading this review!
I freaking LOVED this book!! I loved the passion, the details, the fight, the loss, the..Love.. All of it!
After returning back to Q, Tess finds herself struggling to break through to his walls. Knowing he needed to let the monster living within him out, she tries to find a medium ground for these two to live. Only Q isn't ready to let her in, he has never before left these feelings for anyone and has no idea what to do with them.
This is where the story turns dark, Tess is taken by the traffickers again. They were livid to find out the truth of what Q does with the slaves he purchases. Determined to break her and sell her off to another highest bidder.
Q goes out of his mind searching for Tess. He finally accepts that he loves her, and she is taken from him... Determined to do anything for her, he sets up a search party of his best, most dangerous men. Can he find her before she is sold?
Tess faces the worst possible circumstances you couldn't possibly imagine. Drugged and forced to hurt others, forced to go deep within herself and shut down any good that is inside her. Any thoughts or feelings..
Pepper Winters has out done herself! Hearing the story from both points of view this time, seeing the extreme deep feelings that each of them share is unbelievable. I don't want to give any spoilers, so unfortunately, that's all I can give. This is MUST READ!
Jenn's Review
Three months ago I had the opportunity to read Pepper Winter's debut novel Tears of Tess. I immediately fell in love with Pepper's writing, as well as Tess and Q. As their story bled from the pages I was pulled into their darkness and found solace in their twisted love. When I heard their would be a squeal I was elated. Tess and Q hold such a huge spot in my heart I was over the moon to get the chance to spend just a little more time with them. Pepper did not disappoint.
Tess has come back to Q, opening him and causing him to feel emotions he cannot even begin to understand. With cracks in his armor Q battles his demons. He is determined to keep the animal within leashed and under control. Tess knows what she wants, Q, all of him, and she will do whatever it takes, even waving a juicy bone in the face of the hungry lion. But is she truly prepared for the brunt of his fierceness once it is released?
Before Tess can find out their lives take an unforeseen turn. Quickly there are more dangerous evils stalking them. The Devil himself would cower with fright from the darkness that descends as Q unleashes his fury on the world, all while Tess fumbles in a cloudy haze to keep her grip in reality.
Is Q strong enough to keep Tess safe? Can Tess conjure up the courage to break free from the nightmare she is living? Only time will tell if these two twisted souls can find peace and love with one another.
I cannot say enough about Pepper Winters. She has quickly become one of my top five authors. Hell, make that top three. Her descriptions are stellar. The world she creates is hauntingly beautiful. Darkness with hints of light. Heaviness that floats like a feather. It is absolutely mesmerizing I never thought I would love a series with such dark subject matter, but Pepper make me love Tess and Q despite their faults and circumstance. I cannot wait to see what Pepper Winters does next. I will forever be a devoted fan!
Happy Reading!!
