March FAN Madness: Chasing the Wild Sparks by Ren Alexander

What would you do if the love of your life doesn’t want the same life you do?
Hadley Beckett has failed in not only her career, but as a daughter, friend, and girlfriend. Hadley’s longtime boyfriend, Finn Wilder, who is Richmond, Virginia’s local daredevil and favorite sportscaster, isn’t afraid of anything…almost. Hadley desperately wants a marriage and kids with him, the two things Finn infamously dreads.

Finn pressures Hadley into moving in with him, but being traditional, she wants to be married first and she wants to stick to her beliefs, just as he clings to his own. On the other hand, Finn has tolerated Hadley’s stubbornness long enough and he’s reaching his breaking point.

Fearing at 33 that she will soon be too old to have kids, Hadley wants Finn to change his mind and marry her, yet her insecurities about his public life and from his constant rebuffs have her questioning her aspirations. With conflicting advice from her friends, Hadley concludes she should take things into her own hands.

But then again, Finn Wilder has his own story to tell.

Finn’s hands drift up under my top, gliding smoothly over my skin with his palms, but his fingertips roughly burrow into my skin. My nipples painfully stretch against the tape covering them. His lips travel across my jaw and brusquely collide with mine, the alcohol sharply pervading me once more as he ravenously licks my tongue. His fingers sharply tug at my skin as they move dangerously upward. My breasts are taped up, but not only that, we’re in public. I pull on his hair to get his lips to release mine, but it only revs him up more. Ultimately, I have to push down on his hands to lower them. He then drops them down to the buttons of my skirt, toying with them. I didn’t mean for him to do that! I think the most recent shots he drank are beginning to hit him.
I mumble, “We’re in public.”
“Uh-huh,” he utters over my lips. He bends his body while still kissing me so he can unbutton the bottom of my skirt.
“Finn.” He kisses me and works on the second button, making me wriggle.
I move my mouth away. “Stop.” I try to fix my skirt, but his hands push mine away.
Looking down so he can speed up his task, he asks, “Do you know what I want to do right now?” I shake my head, but it’s not hard to guess what he wants.
He glances up at me, his big brown eyes now full of cocky desire. “I want to feel how much I turn you on.” He can’t see it on my face or hear it in my breathing?
I scan the area around us. “Not here, Finn.”
He ignores me and pulls at the skirt’s opening. “Then I want to take you over to that booth in the corner where it’s dark.” He sharply nods behind us to the corner of the room.
“And?” Do I really want to know? I won’t be able to stop myself from allowing him to do just that if he tells me.
He lets go of my skirt and grabs my arms, whispering in my ear. “I want you to sit on my lap.” I close my eyes. There’s no way he wants me to do that and not try to get something else out of it.
“Why?” Am I really stupid enough to ask that?
He sticks his tongue inside my ear before saying, “So I can f*ck you.”

Hands down 5 freaking stars! This book is absolutely amazing! I had to take a minute to calm my racing heart before writing this review…

Hadley, AKA Becks, has been with her boyfriend, Finn, for over three years and she is ready to take it to the next level. Being in her thirty’s her biological clock is starting to tick…loudly… However, Finn stresses that he never wants to get married.
Finn has been around divorce his entire life, people fall in love and as soon as they get that piece of paper in their hands, suddenly everything falls apart. He desperately does not want that to happen to them.

Finn is a local TV sportscaster as well as their town dare devil, also in the lime light and easily recognized he tried to keep their relationship private, only he takes that a little too far. Pain, confusion, and neglect plagues Beck’s heart. She knows he loves her, why is he so unwilling to make the commitment to her? When her best friend announces she is pregnant and engaged, everything around her crumbles to the ground. Can they survive this? Will Finn be able to admit to himself that not ALL marriages end in divorce, that their love will be strong enough to prevail?

The raw emotion in this book is absolutely phenomenal! On more than one occasion I found my heart begin to race, my hands started to shake and I could absolutely envision Hadley laying into Finn for hurting her. The arguments that these two share felt so lifelike, Ren Alexander blew me away with this one.

Oh and to warn you, CLIFF HANGER! One of those cliff hangers where you are screening at your kindle (and maybe a little bit at the author..). Ren has herself a new fan, I cannot wait to read Daring the Wild Sparks and anything else Ren decides to write, Fan-Girl for life!

*I received this book by the author in exchange for an honest review*
